Estero, Bonita Springs Chiropractic Effective for Cervicogenic Headache

Indeed, the World Health Organization (WHO) states that half of all adults have a problem with some manner of headache problems, so this actually isn’t a surprise. One of the most frequent kinds of headaches that our patients have problems with is cervicogenic headache which, fortunately, chiropractic can generally help.

Cervicogenic Headaches Explained

A cervicogenic headache is one that comes from issues in the cervical spine. It could be attributable to a condition with either the spine itself (primarily, the vertebrae, joints, or discs), or it can be brought on by a problem in the muscles and tendons of your neck. This dysfunction in your spine can cause squeezing or aggravation of the spinal nerves, which can bring about headache pain.

How can you determine if the headache you are feeling is a cervicogenic headache? Apart from getting a diagnosis from a healthcare professional, a typical symptom of cervicogenic headaches is tenderness or pain in your neck. This is sometimes associated with pain in the back of your head or between your shoulder blades.

How Chiropractic Helps with Cervicogenic Headaches

Seeing that cervicogenic headaches will not go away until whatever issue is initiating them is remedied, it is critical to get treatment rather than just trying to "wait it out." Chiropractic care is an excellent approach, and one that can provide a considerable amount of relief.

In one study published in Chiropractic & Osteopathy, researchers studied 80 people who had repeated cervicogenic headaches. One-half were given chiropractic care and the other fifty percent underwent light massage therapy. Each participant was assessed 12 and 24 weeks after the procedures and it was discovered that chiropractic provided the most beneficial results.

Specifically, this study revealed that chiropractic adjustments provided patients more significant pain relief and lowered the frequency of headaches that occurred. Furthermore, it also diminished the disability that resulted from these painful headaches.
